Multimedia Journalist Fears For His Life As Aisha Huang Returns

A Kumasi-based journalist with the multimedia group, Erastus Asare Donkor, is gripped with fear by the return of the notorious Chinese Galamsey Queen, Aisha Huang.

The Nhyira FM reporter played a critical role in Aisha Huang’s arrest and subsequent deportation in 2017.

According to him, a lot of people lost their lives whiles several others sustained various degrees of injuries at the hands of Aisha Huang. Some farmers also lost their cocoa farms as a result of her activities without any compensation whatsoever. To add more salts to the injuries, the aggrieved farmers had no justice at the courts due to her strong connectivity and for that matter, his life could be at risk as she returns.

Speaking on Opemsuo Radio with Agudey, he was not surprised the notorious Chinese illegal miner has returned to resume her operations adding that he predicted her return after she was deported in 2018.

Her return comes as a surprise to many Ghanaians after the then Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo, had assured the nation she was to be deported for engaging in illegal mining contrary to the mining regulations in the country.

The Senior Minister argued her deportation would strengthen the bilateral relationship with China at the time the country was negotiating for a $2b facility from Synohydro.

But for Erastus Asare Donkor, it is unfortunate that the nation could trade with her water resources and the future of the country only to strengthen a bilateral relationship.

He doubts the commitment of the country to prosecute Aisha Huang even on her second arrest notwithstanding the assurance from the Attorney General.
