Monwirehene Swears Allegiance to Asantehene

The occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has received the oath of allegiance of Nana Gyamfi Kumanin Sarpong, Monwirehene.
He took the oath on July 21, 2025 during a Kumasi Traditional Council meeting.
Taking the oath, he vowed to be honest to the King and be at his beck and call.
This is an affirmation of his enstoolment which comes after a longstanding dispute over the royalty of the Queen.
Background
It comes after the Asantehene directed the Queen of Monwire, Obaapanin Agyaponmaa Konadu, to step aside in the process of selecting a candidate for the vacant male stool after she was found as a non-royal.
The Family Head, Opanin Kwabena Ofori was mandated to lead the traditional process to elect a candidate.
Traditionally, a queen is supposed to choose a candidate for a vacant male stool; however, in instances where the female traditional leader is not a royal, she is made to sit aside for the royal family to undertake the task.
