Methodist Church Honours Otumfuo for His Steadfast Support

The Methodist Church-Ghana has publicly acknowledged the steadfast and unflinching support they have enjoyed from the Kings of the Asante Kingdom and particularly the current Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Church as an expression of their immense gratitude and great respect, made a presentation of a plaque to the Monarch on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the Manhyia Palace.

Presenting it, the Presiding Bishop of the Church, Most Rev Dr Paul Kwabena Boafo hailed the Asantehene’s highly welcoming reception of the church in his Kingdom and his contribution to their evolution and advancement over the years.

“From 1840 till date, Asantehene has been so receptive and welcoming to us. We pray always for him. We pray for God’s protection and hand over him and today we came along with this plaque to honour him.”

The religious body described the King’s leadership as sterling and prayed for the inspiration it carries to endure.

“With deep gratitude and admiration for Your Majesty’s steadfast support, precious hosting and dedication to our church and community. In recognition of your sterling leadership and revered reign over the past 25 years, the Methodist Church, Ghana honours you with this plaque. May your legacy of wisdom and benevolence continue to inspire all who are touched by your greatness,” the plaque read.

The leadership of the Church were at the Palace to formally seek the blessing of His Majesty to undertake their 51st Conference in Kumasi as well as extend an invitation to the Palace.

Among the delegation were the former Presiding Bishop of the Church, Most Rev Prof Emmanuel Kwaku Asante, the Kumasi Bishop, RT Rev Stephen Kwaku Owusu and Visiting Bishops across Europe, America and Africa.
