Memphis In May: Otumfuo Tours Graceland
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has embarked on a tour at Graceland in Memphis City as part of activities for the Memphis in May International Festival.
The King led and accompanied by some chiefs and officials visited Graceland, the Home of Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll.
During the tour, some items in use by the King of Rock and Roll were spoken of ranging from his vehicles, airplanes, costumes, and gold and platinum records.
According to the CEO of Graceland, Jack Soden, a visit from His Royal Majesty is a much appreciated and a special one.
He said, “This is really special, it is special for everyone in Memphis. Memphis is being honoured by Ghana with this.”
Elvis Presley was an American singer who added acting as a career and was known as the King of Rock and Roll due to his performance styles.
Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, he was recognized as an important icon of culture in the 20th century.
Memphis in May International festival honouring Ghana this year seeks to highlight the history and cultures of Ghana and Memphis.
