Mahama To Unveil Running Mate Today
John Dramani Mahama will today make a presentation of his nominated running mate to the National Executive Council (NEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The meeting with the NEC will take place this morning, a statement released by Mr Mahama’s Personal Aide, Joyce Bawa Motgari, said, adding that the selection of the running mate will be done in line with the party’s constitution.
He recognizes that the event today will mark a significant step in the party’s preparation towards the 2024 General Election, during which the former President will be seeking a comeback.
“Selecting a running mate is an important decision and Mahama is confident his nominee embodies values and vision of the NDC and will and will contribute to a successful electoral campaign,” a portion of the statement said.
It continued, “Mahama and the NDC are dedicated to building a formidable team that will work tirelessly to advance the interest of the Ghanaian people and reset the country on a path of recovery and a prosperous future.”
The country’s biggest opposition party last week announced their Flag bearer had nominated his running mate for onward approval from the party’s executives.
The former President was elected to lead the party into the polls in May 2023.
During his unsuccessful bid in the 2020 general elections, Mr Mahama chose former Education Minister Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang as his running mate.
