Mahama Petitions CID To Probe Forgery By NPP Members
The Office of former President John Dramani Mahama has petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to probe an alleged forgery by some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Some digging by the 2024 flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), according to the petition, found two members of the governing party were involved.
Abdul Rauf Ibrahim whose Twitter bio revealed was an NPP loyalist and Ato Kwamena Forson whose bio revealed was the Deputy Director of IT at the NPP National Headquarters are alleged to be behind the forgery.
The two are said to have forged the letterhead of Mr Mahama and released a memo declaring his support for the Occupy BoG protest, which took place in October 2023.
The said memo dated October 2, 2023, also portrayed the personal aide to Mr Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, as signatory.
“The said document was not authored or issued by our Client. Based on the above and other related facts, we have advised our Client in respect of the criminal laws and his rights thereunder; whereupon he has instructed us to, on his behalf, petition you to cause criminal investigations into the unauthorised use or forgery of his office’s credentials.”
