Mahama has no answers to Ghana’s problems – Buaben Asamoah.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra yesterday, the NPP’s communications director, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, has declared that the former president John Dramani Mahama offers no credible political alternatives or answers to Ghana’s problems.

“Mahama is just desperate to rule the country again, and so falsely claims to have all the answers to the dilemmas Ghana faces”.

Asamoah argued that when Mahama had the chance to rule the country, he ruined the economy. As such, he has no moral right to claim that he can offer Ghanaians any hope, he said.

The NPP said Mahama has been touring the country under the guise of thanking Ghanaians for his defeat in the 2020 election and trying to create the impression that he has solutions to challenges facing the country.

“The former president’s speeches are mere displays of pique”, the NPP communications director told members of the press. “He will be entirely unable to improve Ghana’s fortunes if given the mandate again in the 2024 elections”, Asamoah said, accusing the former president of wanting only to satisfy personal ambition.

Economic mismanagement
According to Asamoah, Mahama lost the 2016 election because he and his administration mismanaged the economy, affecting the plight of average Ghanaians.

“The former president has nothing to offer except to retard national progress if Ghanaians mistakenly re-elect him”.

The NPP communications director said it was alarming to believe that, despite the NDC flagbearer professing to have solutions to unemployment during his “thank you” tour lectures, Ghana saw the foundation of the Unemployed Graduates’ Association under Mahama’s reign.

Social interventions.
“Although Mahama claims to have the interests of the poor at heart, he never introduced a pro-poor policy or made an anti-poverty intervention during his time in power,” Asamoah said.
According to Asamoah, the former president and his National Democratic Congress have opposed every social intervention program implemented by the NPP governments, including Free Senior High School, the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program, and the National Health Insurance Scheme.
He further urged Ghanaians to recognize that Mahama and his cronies are merely trying to reclaim power so that they can continue mismanaging the country.
