Mahama Arrives in France to Co-host One Health Summit

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in France, where he will be co-hosting the One Health Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron.

He is currently in Lyon, where world leaders, health ministers, and global health experts will gather to discuss pressing issues related to global health systems, sustainable food production, and joint strategies to address health challenges on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

On his arrival in Lyon on Monday, President Mahama was welcomed by a group of Ghanaian families living in the city.

The President will deliver two keynote addresses, the first during a meeting on a Global Health Architecture, which will be co-chaired by President Macron and Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of the World Health Organisation. Participants will discuss reforms to global health initiatives and endorse a Political Declaration on strengthening international health cooperation.

The second keynote will be delivered at the start of the high-level segment for heads of state and government, where the President will detail Ghana’s commitments and views on global health security.

The President will leave Lyon for Paris after Tuesday’s summit for a bilateral meeting with President Macron at the Élysée Palace.

The discussions between the two leaders will centre on strengthening Ghana-France bilateral relations and exploring cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including health, education, trade, investment, and regional security.
