Lordina Emerges Champion Of OCRC 2022

The Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge trophy has finally left Anomangye Community to Tafo as 15-year-old Lordina Serwaa Agyapong, a representative of the Tafo Community has been crowned the winner of this year’s Challenge.

Lordina who scored the highest mark on the community stage didn’t relent in her efforts to annex the trophy from Anomangye when she fiercely fought her way through to secure the bragging right of this year’s Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge.

The student of Tafo Pankrono M/A JHS began her path to the finals by defeating the communities of Oforikrom and Asawase at the knockout stage, earning 79.0 points to go to the 1/8th stage.

Lordina battled valiantly to defeat Agric Representative in the 1/8th stage with 78.2 points compared to Agric’s 77.2 points, progressing to the quarterfinal stage of the competition.

The winner once more shattered the hopes of the Ahinsan competitor by defeating her with 78.5 points in the quarterfinal round to advance to the semi-finals.

In the semi-final round, Emmanuel Akwaboah, representing Mamponteng Community, faced off against Lordina. After a close match, Lordina qualified for the grand finale by outscoring her formidable competitor with 78.7 points to 76.7 for her opponent.

Lordina is the first competitor from Tafo to advance her community to the grand finale stage in this year’s Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge.

At the grand finale, Lordina faced off a fierce contest from Henrietta Diyour from Obuasi, Yaa Antwi Boasiako Tiwaa who represented Maakro, Melissa Braimah Saeed from Adum and Francisca Boakye Mensah from Kotei Community. But after a series of contests, Lordina emerged winner of the Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge 2022.

Lordina won a cash prize of Ghc10, 000, educational scholarships among others from the organisers of the event, a slew of prizes from sponsors and a laptop from the MP of Tafo Constituency, Hon. Vincent Asafua.
