Lands Ministry Invites Petitions From Flagged Small-scale Mining Licence Holders

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has provided room for justification after some small-scale mining licences were flagged to have irregularities.
The irregularities were identified with 962 of a total of 1278 active licences by a review committee.
The sector Minister, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, has since constituted a three-member Committee to receive petitions from affected licence holders.
This, it said, will afford the affected holders the opportunity to provide further and better particulars in support of their claim to the licences.
Similarly, the Minerals Commission is expected to submit explanations for lapses identified in the processing of the licences to the Committee, it noted.
The affected licence holders are to submit any documentation to prove the legitimacy of their small-scale mining licences to the Ministry on or before 17:00 hrs., September 1, 2025.
It noted that any non-compliance will result in instant revocation.
