Lady Julia Graces ‘Akwasidae Kɛse’

Lady Julia, the wife of the King of the Asante Kingdom, graced the grand Akwasidae festival held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Sunday.
Her Highness paid homage to the Asantehene as His Majesty sat in state to receive guests who had joined the event.
Lady Julia further exchanged pleasantries with President John Dramani Mahama, who was the guest of honour for the event.
The last Akwasidae Festival, known as ‘Adae Kɛse’, is the ninth of the year, held on December 21, 2025.
The colourful event witnessed paramount chiefs and sub-Asante chiefs from across the country convening at the Manhyia Palace.
They paid homage and assisted the Asantehene in receiving his guests from across the country and beyond.
The event was joined by President John Dramani Mahama and his government officials, organisers of the Millennium Excellence Awards, Asante Professionals Club, Ghana Cleft Foundation, Afia Kobi Serwaa Apem SHS, Chief Executive Officer of Akate Farms Trading Company, who also doubles as Paramount Chief of the Bawiesibai Traditional Area, Kuoru Baluganie Sapara II, the Zongo Community and other dignitaries.
It was an opportunity to pay homage and honour His Majesty.
Asanteman has successfully marked nine Akwasidae festivals. This festival falls every forty or forty-two days per the Asante Calendar.
The first was celebrated on January 19, followed by the others on March 2, April 13, May 25, July 6, August 17, September 28, November 9, and December 21.
Asanteman will mark eight Akwasidae festivals next year. The first will fall on February 1, followed by the others on March 15, April 26, June 7, July 19, August 30, October 11, and November 22.
