Lady Julia Discerned Necessity of KGL Eve Medical Centre Before We Imagined- Financier

The Executive Chairman of the KGL Group and KGL Foundation, Mr Alex Dadey, has underscored the crucial role Lady Julia Osei Tutu played bringing into fruition the multipurpose state of the art facility, the KGL Eve Medical Centre.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, he said while his outfit was immersed in the final outcome of the project, Her Majesty was occupied with its numerous benefits and health impact.

The financier of the project thereby hailed Lady Julia for her visionary leadership, compassion and unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of Asanteman.

Celebrating her, Mr Apau Dadey stated that the project did not begin as a structure but her conviction.

“Long before most of us imagined what this facility would become, you already saw its impact and its necessity. I remember all our engagements, how you passionately advocated for a centre of dignity and a healing for Asanteman.

“You carried this project not as an idea but as a duty to the people you love and serve. Your sincerity moved me. Your persistence inspired me, and your heart convinced me. It takes a really good heart to carry the burdens of others as your own.”

He affirmed that the building witnesses her leadership which is grounded in empathy and service.

“Your Highness, Asanteman recognises what your heart has built. Ghana recognises what your commitment has achieved and generations yet unborn will remember your role in opening the doors to healing to countless families.”

The Acting CEO of the Ghana Mental Health Authority, Dr Eugene Kobla while describing the facility as a strategic national investment, said it stands as a living testament to what happens when empathy transforms into action advocacy evolves into enduring infrastructure.

“We remain profoundly grateful to Lady Julia for this visionary support. The establishment of Eve Medical Centre therefore represents more than philanthropy.”

For his part, the Chairman of the Eve Medical Foundation expressed immense gratitude to the wife of the Asantehene.

“To the vision bearer, Her Royal Highness Lady Julia, we say thank you. Thank you for your vision. Thank you for inspiring us to birth this wonderful edifice.”

Project
The first phase of the three-phased KGL Eve Medical Centre, a project masterminded by the wife of the King of the Asante Kingdom, Lady Julia has been commissioned and opened to the general public.
The US$2 million facility is located at the Kumasi Medical Village at Boadi at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), in the Ashanti Region.

Designed to hold consulting rooms for Psychiatric services, therapy and counselling units, inpatient wards, diagnostic and pharmacy units, rehabilitation spaces, administrative and staff facilities, it is purposed to provide dignified mental health services, general outpatient medical care, general obstetric support, youth and student counselling and professional psychosocial services.

Conceived by the Eve Medical Foundation, the project was fully funded by the KGL Group.

It was commissioned on December 9, 2025, by Lady Julia, the Patron of the Eve Foundation and Vice President of Ghana, Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang.
The event was attended by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, Administrator of Ghana Medical Trust Care, Obuobia Darko Opoku, and others.

The second and third phases of the project is scheduled to be completed by 2027.
