Kwabena Agyepong: I’ll Be an Advocate for Discipline and Integrity, Even at Political Cost

Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, seeking to lead the NPP into the next election, has reaffirmed his commitment to upholding discipline, integrity, and ethical conduct in public life — even if doing so costs him politically.

The former NPP General Secretary said his guiding principle in politics is rooted in honesty and moral conviction, not expediency. According to him, leadership should be defined by a willingness to defend what is right, regardless of personal or political consequences.

“I want to be an advocate for the right things to be done in this country,” he said.

“Even if it will cost me politically, I don’t mind. I want to be known as someone who fought for what is good.”

Agyepong lamented what he described as a growing decline in discipline and moral standards across institutions, particularly in schools and public offices. He pointed to issues such as sexual harassment and misconduct as signs of a society losing its moral compass, stressing that these must be confronted with firmness.

“We cannot joke with discipline,” he stated, adding that wrongdoers must be named, shamed, and punished to set a precedent for future generations.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential hopeful further cautioned the media against promoting a culture of insults and disrespect toward national leaders, chiefs, and public figures, warning that such behavior normalizes mediocrity and weakens national values.
