Kumawu Road Construction: NaySayers Have Been Proved Wrong – DCE
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Sekyere Kumawu, Hon. Samuel Addai Agyekum has refuted claims that the road construction in the area was halted after the recent by-election.
In an interview with Agudey, host of Nkwantannanso, on June 6, Hon Agyekum clarified that such reports were false and affirmed that the road construction work is continuing without interruption.
“Road construction is still in progress in Kumawu, and the contractors have not left. The naysayers have been proved wrong.”
“This is proof that the road construction project was not initiated solely for political reasons but out of genuine necessity. It is a testament to the commitment of the government to improve infrastructure for the benefit of the community,” he stated.
Additionally, he highlighted the positive impact of the project, including job creation. He confirmed that eight security personnel, who are local residents of Kumawu, have been employed as part of the project.
On Tuesday, May 23, during an inspection visit, the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako Atta, assured Kumawu residents that the road projects were not temporary measures and would continue beyond the bye-elections.
He explained that the road projects in Kumawu constituency were planned in conjunction with those in Kwabre East, coinciding with the unfortunate passing of the former Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Philip Atta Basoah.
“The procurement process for the road project had commenced earlier, and the sod-cutting ceremony was scheduled to take place during the week when Mr. Basoah passed away,” clarified the Minister.
