Kumawood Filmmakers Urged to Promote Positive National Image

The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has urged Kumawood actors and filmmakers to positively project the country’s image through their crafts.
During an engagement in Kumasi with some industry players as part of her tour in the Ashanti Region, she motivated them to use their films to showcase Ghana’s beauty and promote a positive national image.
The Minister emphasised the role movies play in shaping global perceptions and encouraged creatives to highlight the country’s landscapes, culture and tourism attractions.
During separate meetings with Kumawood, MMDCEs and stakeholders from the hospitality, fashion and tourism sectors, she noted that the Ashanti Region already has strong global visibility through film and pledged support to strengthen the creative industry.
Stakeholders raised concerns about taxation, exchange programmes and capacity building, which the Minister assured had been noted for action.
The tour continues across the region, with the Minister accompanied by Directors Dr Jeoffrey Tamakloe and Divine Kwame Owusu Ansah.
