Kumasi Female Prison Gets New Leader

Chief Superintendent Florence Taylor (Mrs.) has been appointed as the new Officer-in-Charge of the Kumasi Female Prison.
This was announced by the Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, on July 15, 2025.
She was formally introduced to the Minister by Regional Prisons Commander, Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) James B. Mwinyelle (Ing.), during a courtesy call.
“I had the honour of welcoming Chief Superintendent Florence Taylor (Mrs.), the newly appointed Officer-in-Charge of the Kumasi Female Prison, to my office at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council.”
The meeting featured discussions on matters of collaboration and institutional support, he said in his Facebook post.
“We discussed issues relating to the welfare of inmates, staff development, and how we can continue to enhance correctional services in the Region.
“I assured them of the RCC’s commitment to supporting the Ghana Prisons Service in delivering its mandate effectively and humanely.”
Meanwhile, he wished Chief Supt. Taylor the very best in her new role, adding that he looked forward to a fruitful partnership.
