Kumasi Central Prisons To Be Relocated – DSP. Richard Bukari
The Ashanti Regional Prison Service P.R.O, DSP. Richard Bukari has revealed that the Kumasi Central Prisons will be soon relocated from Adum in Kumasi.
According to Him, discussions and plans are far advanced to relocate the Kumasi Central Prisons, the Headquarters of Ashanti Region to a quieter environment.
In an interview with Agudey on Opemsuo radio’s Morning show Nkwantananso today, DSP. Richard Bukari disclosed that the Kumasi Central Prisons was established in the year 1901 and it wasn’t in the center of Kumasi.
“The location of the Prison is becoming dangerous because it is at the center of town, for our operations we have some disadvantages because day in day out illegal things are smuggled inside,” he said.
DSP. Richard Bukari continued that out of the seven prisons in Ashanti Region, Kumasi Central Prisons is the most populated one due to the nature of crimes committed.
He pleaded with Authority to help speed up the relocation process of the Prison
