Kotoko’s Ogum Undergoes Surgery

The head coach of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum, has gone under the knife, the club announced on Wednesday morning.

Scanty information surrounds his condition; however, the club said the surgery became necessary after a short illness.

It has since successfully been conducted.

“Our head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has undergone a successful surgery after a short illness. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back soon.”

The club used the occasion to wish the 46-year-old a speedy recovery while fans have been pouring out their thoughts and prayers for the coach.

Dr Ogum first joined Kotoko in the 2021/2022 season but resigned in 2022 after guiding the Porcupines to their 24th League title.

He was reappointed Head Coach in 2023 by the Life Patron of the Club, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II following the dissolution of the Board of the Club.

His appointment came some days to the start of the 2023/2024 season which just ended and saw Kotoko finish sixth on the league log with 49 points after 34 games, winning 14 of them, losing 13 and drawing seven times.

They scored 35 goals and conceded 29.

Kotoko after a torrid start following the leadership shakeup, further had its performance impacted by disagreements between the head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, and the playing body.

This took the intervention of their Patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to restore calm and set the team back on winning ways.
