Kotoko Take On ASEC Mimosas In President’s Cup Tomorow

The Asante Kotoko Sporting Club will be hosting Ivorian premier club ASEC Mimosas in the President’s Cup on Tuesday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The last encounter between the two African giants was in 2019 during the Otumfuo Cup to celebrate the 20th Anniversary celebration of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The game ended 1-0 in favour of the Porcupines at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Kotoko will be seeking to repeat the same result tomorrow and clutch their ninth title.

In an interview with the Club’s media, Assistant Coach David Ocloo said his side will approach the game with all the needed seriousness.

“We will be approaching it with all seriousness because even though it is a ceremonial game, it’s an international game also playing against ASEC Mimosas. We all know the history between ASEC and Kotoko. They a powerhouse and we are also a powerhouse. It’s going to be a kicky game but we are also prepared. As the current holder, we feel honoured and I would like to win it again. I will do everything to win it again.”

He is promising a good game and top notch performance against the Ivorian side.

“Our boys are ready. They are training very well. They are amazing and we have confidence in them to deliver… ASEC are doing well in the league but we are Asante Kotoko. We also have the pedigree and the name so we are going to give them a good game.”

Meanwhile, key players like Richmond Lamptey and Nicolas Mensah who missed the club’s last games as a result of bookings will be available for selection against ASEC.

Coach Ocloo has urged fans to come in their numbers to support the team.

“Come and support us. We will not disappoint them.”
