Kotoko Player Exit Toll Rises to 18

The number of players who have left Asante Kotoko Sporting Club after the 2023/2024 league season has risen to 18 after seven more were announced to have been relieved on Wednesday afternoon.

Among them are Rocky Dwamena, Julius Ofori Ziggy, Nanabayin Amoah, Richmond Opoku, Shadrack Addo, Samuel Asamoah and Isahaku Fuseini.

According to a club statement, the players agreed to the termination of their contracts on mutual grounds.

“The Club wishes them the best for the future, and thank them for their service,” it added.

It came only a day after 11 players were sacked, some over contract expiration and others of over indiscipline- according to reports- after a not-so-good season which however ended on a good note.

The 11 players are Kalo Ouattara, Nicholas Osei Bonsu, Isaac Oppong, Augustine Agyapong, Nicholas Mensah, John Tedeku, Sherif Mohammed, George Mfegue, Serge Eric Zeze, Danlad Ibrahim and Moise Pouaty.

Kotoko after a torrid start following the leadership shakeup further had its performance impacted by disagreements between the head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, and the playing body.

This took the intervention of their Patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to restore calm and set the team back on winning ways.

They finished the season sixth on the league log with 49 points after 34 games, winning 14 of them, losing 13 and drawing seven times.

They scored 35 goals and conceded 29.
