Kotoko Fail To Defend Title As King Faisal, Tamale City and Kotoku Royals Get Relegated
The 2021/2022 Premier League Champions fell short as they tried to defend their title in the just-ended Premier League season.
The Porcupine Warriors finished the season 4th with 52 points, eight points cut from winners Medeama Sporting Club after recording a goalless draw in their last match at home against Dreams FC.
Out of 34 matches played, they recorded 13 wins, 13 draws and 8 losses, scoring 42 goals and conceding 31.
Medeama SC, the current Champions sealed their last game which spelt out their victory in a 3:0 win against relegated Tamale City at the Akoon Park on Sunday. They have now qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Aduana Stars came second with 55 points followed by Bechem United with 54 points.
5th placed Bibiani Gold Stars had 49 points, Dreams FC 48 points, Berekum Chelsea 47, Karela United 47, Legon Cities 46, Samartex 46, Real tamale United 46, Hearts of Oak 46, Nsoatreman 46, Great Olympics 45 and Accra Lions 45.
Tamale City, King Faisal and Kotoku Royals have been relegated after securing 42, 42, and 26 points respectively.
They will be replaced in the Premier League next season by Kpando Heart of Lions, Nations FC and Bofoakwa Tano F.C.
