Kotoko End Winless Streak With Aduana Victory

Asante Kotoko SC shone in their weekend encounter against Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Stadium in Dormaa, putting two past their hosts and keeping a clean sheet.

This was their first win in five games, having suffered back-to-back defeats in their last four league games.

Nine minutes into the game, defender Patrick Asiedu opened the scoreline. It was augmented by a goal by talisman Albert Amoah in the second half.

The win has pushed Prosper Narteh Ogum’s side from the eighth place on the log to seventh with 18 points.

In a post-match press conference, the head coach of Kotoko said the win had nothing to do with tactics but self-confidence and determination.

“I think it’s about self-confidence, it’s about determination. Playing in Dormaa has nothing to do with tactics. It has everything to do with the confidence, determination, aggression and calmness of the team. If you look at how we played today, right from the blast of the whistle to the end, we were very calm because I know the venue to be an aggressive venue so if you come aggressively, it wouldn’t help so I tried as much as possible to let them undertand that we need to be calm in every situation.”

He also expressed his joy and relief.

“I’m happy, the supporters are happy and before I came here, the ambiance and euphoria in the dressing room [indicated} everyone is happy.”

Kotoko in their next league game will face arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
