The Management of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has announced the interdiction of four medical staff over failure to provide emergency medical care to a hit-and-run victim.
The staff include two medical doctors and two nurses.
In a statement issued on Monday, it said the move is in line with established administrative procedures to pave the way for investigations by a committee.
It urged all relevant persons to cooperate with the committee to ensure a fair and transparent inquiry.
“The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital remains committed to transparency, accountability and the delivery of quality healthcare services. Further information will be communicated upon completion of the investigation.”
Incident
Twenty-nine-year-old engineer Charles Amissah is reported to have died on February 6, 2026, after he was denied emergency care.
The deceased was reported to have been involved in a hit-and-run accident at the Nkrumah Circle Overpass on February 6.
Reports indicate that although he was stabilised by Emergency Medical Technicians from the National Ambulance Service, he was allegedly denied admission at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Ridge Hospital, and the Police Hospital due to the unavailability of beds.
