Kofi Kyereh Set for Surgery after Relapse
Ghana international Daniel Kofi Kyereh is scheduled to go under the knife once again after he suffered a relapse once more forcing him to end his pre-season training with his teammates at Freiburg.
He has since left Austria where the players are undertaking the pre-season camping.
The setback was announced by the club on Wednesday, July 25, 2024 in a post on X, confirming that he had an injured knee.
“Kofi Kyereh has left the TL in Schruns. After the increased loads, renewed problems have occurred in the injured knee.
“A surgical procedure is intended to provide information on how further treatment and load management can be continued in a targeted manner.”
Kyereh’s woes began in February 2023 when he was diagnosed with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) that was to sideline him for six months but consistent relapse in the recovery process extended his absence for more than a year even at the national level.
There were high hopes and anticipation for his return to the field following his inclusion in the German-based club’s squad for their pre-season activities earlier but this is yet another shadow on his availability.
It is not yet known how long he will remain sidelined due to the injury.
