KNUST Unearths Malicious Admission SMS

The Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and technology (KNUST) has discovered what it calls a malicious admission Short Message Service (SMS) sent by scrupulous and faceless persons to West African Senior High School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) applicants.

The message purported to emanate from the institution, demands the payment a non-refundable GhC2,550 from these applicants whose WASCCE results are yet to be released by the West African Examination Council (WAEC).

“IT has come to the notice of the University that messages purported to indicate an offer of admission have been deliver to applicants for the 20232024 admissions, via SMS. The messages are being used to demand payment of non-refundable fees of GhC2,550.00 through a malicious link,” a notice from the school prompted.

“The University wishes to state emphatically, that it has not started processing the applications from holders of the West African Senior High School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).

“Processing of applications from holders of WASSCE will begin after the release of the 2023 WASSCE results by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC),” it added.

The public has thus been cautioned against the duplicity.
