KMA Organises Clean-up Exercise Ahead of Independence Anniversary Celebrations

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has instituted a sanitation exercise across the metropolis in the lead-up to the 69th Independence Anniversary Celebrations.

It will replace the routine National Sanitation Day for next month, which was originally scheduled for March 7, 2026.

The upcoming exercise will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, in place of the upcoming.

“This decision was necessitated by the 69th Independence Anniversary Celebrations on Friday, 6th March 2026.”

Urging schools and the business community, who usually participate in the monthly organised clean-up activity, to take note of the changes, the Assembly said the exercise will start at 6 am and end at 12noon.

Due to this, commercial vehicles will not be allowed to operate during the stated period in operational areas, including Bantama Market, Racecourse Market, Komfo Anokye Roundabout to Bekwai Roundabout, through to Sofoline Interchange to Abrepo Junction, through to Komfo Anokye Roundabout.

It added, “We anticipate that residents, commercial vehicle drivers, corporate bodies, and the public will comply with this directive and participate fully in this cleaning activity.”
