KATH Maternity Block, Sewuah Hospital, on Govt Radar for Completion- Health Minister

As the government seeks to commence the construction of three new regional hospitals, the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh says uncompleted health facilities, including the Komfo Anokye Maternity Block and the Sewuah Regional Hospital, will receive necessary attention for completion.

Addressing the press on December 1, 2025, the Minister said he had received a directive from President John Dramani Mahama to see to the continuity of work on these projects.

“His Excellency has directed that no uncompleted health facility will be abandoned.”

These projects include La General Hospital, Komfo Anokye Maternity Block, Sewuah Regional Hospital, Agenda 111 and CHPS compounds.

On the new projects, he said some GHC600million had been allocated for the three Regional hospitals in Savannah, Oti and Western North.

“Six out of the 16 regions have lived for the past seven years without any regional hospital. His Excellency promised he was going to build six regional hospitals in regions where there are none. In the 2026 budget, we are going to begin the construction of three regional hospitals.”
