KATH Labour Ward Rebuilding Is Our Greatest Achievement – Sam Pyne
Hon. Samuel Pyne, the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive has announced that the demolition of the old Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Maternity Ward is the greatest achievement for the New Patriotic Party (NPP)
This was because, the weak foundations, rusty iron rods, poor quality of the concrete beams, excessive corrosion of the re-bars, and other defects raised serious concerns about the ability and sustainability of the structure to withstand the test of time has been puzzled out to save lives.
According to Honorable Sam Pyne, the newly built labour ward facility will accommodate over 400 people at a time which is marvelous to tell and even bigger than Okomfo Anokye hospital itself.
The Ashanti regional minister, Honorable Simon Osei Mensah stated that it has been over 40 years ago since the ministry of health decided to rebuild the health facility but to no avail but this government came in to help.
Evidence from several technical, architectural and structural tests on the building suggested that the integrity of the structure in its current state could not be guaranteed, hence the need to be rebuilt.
