KATH Fake Doctor Uncovered
A fake doctor lingering within the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has been arrested after his cover got blown during one of his escapades.
The suspect was in a scrub with the name tag William Cyril and a stethoscope around his neck when he got caught.
Confirming the incident to Opemsuo Radio, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the hospital, Mr Kwame Frimpong disclosed the beginning of the suspect’s end unfolded when the hospital’s Director of Nursing came across him during a routine inspection.
“Director of Nursing {and team} went around and when the inspection almost came to an end, the team came across a young man with a backpack and a Stethoscope around his neck. During an interrogation, he (suspect) said he was a doctor with the hospital but then he fumbled as further questions were thrown at him and he began to retreat.”
He said efforts were made to nab the suspected. After further interrogation, it became evident he was not a staff and was thereby handed over to the police.
Mr Frimpong said the suspect got caught thanks to the interventions put in place by the hospital’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Prof. Dr. Otchere Addai-Mensah which requires all directors to move from the comfort of their offices and undertake inspections.
He further allayed fears that incidents as these put patients at risk saying, “KATH operates as a team system and so it is impossible for a non-staff to access patients.”
