Jeremie Frimpong Discloses Why He Chose Netherlands over Ghana

Ghanaian-born Dutch footballer, Jeremie Frimpong has disclosed he always considered playing for the Black Stars.

That, however, never materialized due to “faith”.

In an interview, the Bayer O4 Leverkusen right-back said he chose Holland because they showed much faith in his ability.

Additionally, he said they reached out first before the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

“I considered playing for Ghana and the GFA did make contact with me, but Holland were always the first one to come and they were the country that believed in me,” he told 3Sports.

The 22-year-old is in Ghana on a mission to reconnect with his origin after spending all his life away despite being born to Ghanaian parents.

In an interview, he disclosed he has never been distant from Ghanaian origin as he has been speaking the Ghanaian language and eating Ghanaian meals.

“I have always been connected to my Ghanaian roots, both of my parents are Ghanaian. I eat Ghanaian food, I speak the language, so I feel like I have always been connected, but obviously, being here makes it extra special,” he said on arrival in Ghana.
