It’s Not a Ceremonial Role; Vice President on Ghana Police Council Appointment

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang deems her new role as the Chairman of the Ghana Police Council as a moral and strategic obligation rather than a mere ceremonial role.

She understands her role is critical in reflecting the highest ideals of professionalism, accountability, and service to the people.

“I am honoured to accept this solemn duty…As Chairperson, I pledge to lead with transparency, inclusivity, and respect for justice and human dignity,” she wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday following her swearing-in.

She is willing to work together with the officers of the Police Service to protect communities and safeguard the country’s democracy.

Prof Opoku Agyemang further urged the Council members to approach the role with unity of purpose and a shared resolve.

“The road ahead may not be without its trials, but with collective wisdom and dedication, we will rise to meet the task and earn the trust of the nation we serve.”

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama reaffirmed his full support of the newly constituted Council and charged them with the vital responsibility of restoring and upholding the integrity of the Ghana Police Service.
