Isaac Adongo: IMF Won’t Allow Funding For Cathedral

The Bolgatanga Central MP, Hon Isaac Adongo has stated that the National Cathedral Project will cease to see reality as the government seeks refuge from the IMF.

According to him, the IMF will act as a referee between the government and the economy and as a result, certain developments cannot be approved under their aid.

He added that, an amount worth $400m will not be allowed to fund the project thus taking the cathedral out of the picture.

IMF will ensure that certain actions are taken under the NPP government which indicates that the National Cathedral project can be forgotten.

“To all those who never supported the idea of the cathedral, I am telling you today that the cathedral is missing, unless they initiate a ‘susu’ account in order for the project to see reality.

“Looking at the financial state of the government now there’s no way IMF will allow $400m for the construction of a cathedral. The current position of the IMF is that of a referee and will ensure that monies owed to others will be settled, in that case, there will be no cathedral when other sectors like education are suffering.

“If God decides to tour all churches in the country, I don’t think he can survive looking at the number of churches in this country, so it’s God who has brought us this far because he’s angry that money is being squandered under his name.

“So God has answered the prayers of those who recently demonstrated against the cathedral, today the cathedral is missing.”
