Investing in Ghana Safer- Otumfuo

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has encouraged investors to make Ghana their one-stop destination underscoring the friendly and profitable atmosphere it offers businesses.

He noted that the country is open to investment opportunities.

“I would encourage you. Ghana is a developing country and is very good for investments. It’s peaceful…I encourage you that you have a peaceful atmosphere in Ghana to carry out businesses. Your investment is safe,” His Majesty said during a visit by the President and Chief Executive Officer of Newmont Company, Mr Tom Palmer.

Expertise
Otumfuo also spoke of Ghana’s readily available qualified and competent workforce.

“I’m glad also that you have appointed one of my sons as the Managing Director. I’ve always said that I have competent people who can run it. Even though you have the money, I have the people to work.”

“I’m sure you have looked and seen that the competency and qualification is there and therefore I’m sure they wouldn’t disappoint if they would have a good team to work with.”

Satisfaction
His Majesty also expressed his satisfaction with the operation of Newmont in Ghana, citing their various Corporate Social Responsibility activities through their non-governmental organisation.

“Newmont is one company that is so dear to me because it is exploring the development of areas for my people. Investments are meant for development and we have the resources, you have the money so we team up to mutually benefit and therefore I see a win-win situation and therefore the support we give you. You also have to do all we think needs to be done for the development of my people.”

He furthered, “So far the arrangement that we have is cordial. You set out well by setting out some ounces of gold mined to development of the people aside from royalties. If I had had this arrangement in Obuasi and other places, I would have had a very good development there.”
