Interior Minister Denies Interference in Recruitment Process

The Minister for Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, has denied any form of interference in the ongoing recruitment process into the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service and the Ghana Prisons Service.

Addressing the media in Accra on Wednesday at one of the screening centres, he said he was only exercising his oversight role.

According to him, the adopted centralised system for the exercise reduces human interaction.

“As a Ministry, we play a supervisory role over the agencies under us, and so we need to ensure that the recruitment exercise is seamless, free, and fair without any interference,” he explained.

“All the officers at the various recruitment centres are security officers and not staff of the Ministry, so how can it be said that the Ministry has taken over the recruitment?’ he questioned.

He further justified his supervisory role, saying it ensures strict adherence to established procedures and standards while reiterating the government’s commitment to sanitising the security services by eliminating middlemen, bribery, and other unethical practices that had undermined public confidence in the past.

Meanwhile, the Minister further disclosed that a dedicated email address, recruitment@mint.gov.gh, had been established for the public to report any form of fraud, misconduct, or irregularities in recruitment into the security agencies.

According to him, a dedicated team had been tasked with receiving and investigating all complaints submitted to ensure free, fair, and credible recruitment processes across all agencies.
