Injury Sidelines Madrid’s Camavinga from Super Cup
Eduardo Camavinga will not be part of Real Madrid’s team for the Super Cup final against Atlanta tonight after he sustained injury during a training session on Tuesday.
The midfielder suffered a sprained internal collateral ligament in his left knee, according to medical report following examination.
“After today’s tests, our player Eduardo Camavinga has been diagnosed with a sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee. Awaiting further evaluation,” the Club said in a statement.
Aside from missing tonight’s showdown, he will be out of action for the next six to seven months, it is estimated.
Madrid will lock horns with Europa League winners, Atlanta at the National Stadium Warsaw in Atlanta.
Madrid are hoping to clutch a record sixth triumph in their ninth appearance in the Super Cup while the team from Bergamo looks for a successful first appearance having defeated Bayer Leverkusen in May.
The Spanish giants despite missing their midfielder to injury appear to be hopeful of repeating one of their exploits tonight.
They were unsuccessful in their first two finals in the Super Cup but won the next four. Their next trophy came in 2022 defeating Eintracht Frankfurt.
