Inflation Eases to 11.5%

The Consumer Price Inflation (CPI) for August 2025 was 11.5%, according to data from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).
This is down from the 12.1% recorded in July 2025.
Addressing the press on September 3, 2025, the Government Statistician, Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, said the figures were influenced by reductions in imported and locally produced items, food and non-food inflation, as well as regional inflation.
Inflation for imported goods, he said, was 9.5%, 12.2% for locally produced goods, 14.8% Food inflation and 8.7% non-food inflation.
The highest regional inflation recorded in the Upper West region was 21.8% while the lowest recorded in the Bono East region was 6.1%.
As part of its recommendations, the GSS urged households to maximise the advantages of the falling prices to save more and shop smarter, saying, “Families can buy staples like rice and maize in bulk to cut costs.”
Meanwhile, it encouraged businesses to invest and stay competitive.
“This is a time to strengthen operations, expand carefully and take advantage of a more stable price environment.”
“For government, we would like to emphasise that this is the time to lock in the disinflation with fiscal discipline and a stronger local supply chain.”
