I’ll Make Myself Available for Probe- Baba Jamal

Aspiring Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East Constituency, Mohammed Baba Jamal, says he is willing to clear his name following allegations of vote-buying in the National Democratic Congress’ primary over the weekend.

He announced plans to honour the invitation of a constituted committee investigating the allegation.

“I’ve been invited to see the Committee later today, and as I said, I will make myself available for any investigation to go on so we will be cleared and everyone will have confidence in the system. We don’t have anything to hide, and so we will make ourselves available to go and respond to whatever investigation they want to conduct.”

He further urged his supporters to exercise restraint in the face of the development.

“I am grateful to them, but everybody should stay calm to allow the processes to go on and let the party do whatever it is doing.”

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has directed the immediate recall of Baba Jamal from his position as Ghana’s High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria after noticing the allegations of vote-buying.

This action, the Jubilee House defended as necessary to preserve the integrity of public office and to avoid any perception of impropriety or conflict with the Government’s Code of Conduct for Political Appointees.

“The recall takes effect immediately, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs has been directed to take the necessary administrative and diplomatic steps to give effect to this directive,” it added.
