I Vowed to Serve God for the Rest of My Life When Released- Agradaa

Patricia Asiedu, known as Agradaa, has shared a covenant she has made with God, leading to his divine intervention for her release from jail.
In an interview posted by Ghana Prisons Service on the eve of her release, she shared her fears, struggles and coping mechanisms for the dreading 15-year jail term she faced.
The former fetish priestess disclosed she never accepted the 15-year jail sentence that was pronounced by an Accra Circuit Court as her fate, though she felt hopeless.
“I didn’t accept the 15-year jail sentence. I didn’t accept that as my fate because I asked myself what crime I had committed, so I didn’t believe I would serve that term…I felt all hope was lost when I was convicted and sentenced. At the entrance of the prison gate, I committed myself into the hands of God because I didn’t know what awaited me.”
As a coping mechanism while in jail appealing her sentence, she said she took solace in similar circumstances recounted in the bible.
She named Paul, Silas, Jonah, Nebuchadnezzar, Hezekiel and others who prayed to God in their afflictions and got delivered.
“I considered people like Paul and Silas, who were put in jail just like me and studied what they did. It was prayer and the word of God. So I decided to pray and trust the word of God. I also studied the story of Jonah, who sinned and prayed for forgiveness, as well as Nebuchadnezzar and Hezekiel, who asked for a second chance at life.”
This, she said, led her into a covenant with God.
“I asked God to do the same for me as he did for these persons in the past and vowed to serve him for the rest of my life.”
The traditional priestess-turned-evangelist was sentenced on July 3, 2025, to 15 years’ imprisonment with hard labour on two counts of defrauding by false pretence. The ex-convict was also fined GH¢300 for charlatanic advertisement.
The conviction and sentence stemmed from a televised broadcast in 2022 in which Agradaa told the public she was willing to share GH¢300,0000 to the needy during a church service, but ended up taking various sums of money from people without giving out any money.
However, the sentence was revised by the Amasaman High Court.
The court slashed the jail term from 15 years to one year and was released on March 3, 2026.
