Veteran forward Andre Ayew has expressed delight after scoring his first goal for NAC Breda in their 3-3 draw against Feyenoord in Round 26 of the Dutch Eredivisie at the Rat Verlegh Stadion over the weekend.

Ayew, who joined the Yellow-Blacks during the winter transfer window, found the back of the net after nine appearances for the club. His compatriot Kamal Sowah also got on the scoresheet in the thrilling encounter, while Denis Odoi came on as a second-half substitute.

NAC Breda produced a spirited performance to hold the second-placed side to a draw, earning a valuable point against one of the strongest teams in the league.

Speaking on ESPN, the former Black Stars captain expressed happiness about opening his goal account for the club and said he always believed the moment would arrive.

“It’s always important to score goals as an offensive player, but sometimes you have to be patient, calm. I knew it was going to come,” he said.

“I was very focused on us winning games. I hope it is the first of many.”

The 36-year-old remains hopeful of contributing more for the team as the season progresses.

NAC Breda currently sit in 17th position with 23 points and will look to improve their situation when they travel to face Go Ahead Eagles in their next league match

Many a Ghanaian football faithful have been very impressed with Andre Ayew’s return to competitive action, especially having started their last four games and getting on the scoresheet, and have started calling for his inclusion in coach Otto Addo’s 2026 World Cup.

Others also hold different opinion as they still feel his time with the senior national team is over and should focus on his club football for now.
