“I declined Ministerial Appointments To Protect My Intergrity”
Mr. Kwabena Yeboah, renowned Ghanaian Journalist, has chosen integrity over political appointment twice in his lifetime.
During the erstwhile Kuffour administration, he was offered an enticing appointment as the Deputy Sports Minister and a similar offer thrown at him during the Atta Mills-led government but declined both “politely”.
In an interview with Nana Aba Anamoah, Mr. Kwabena Yeboah emphasized that “you do not need to be a minister to play your role in this country. People can play many roles in this country without necessarily picking ministerial appointments.”
According to him, “many people do not trust politicians in the world especially in Africa…To be trusted is more important than to be loved.”
He noted that he will readily choose integrity over political appointments due to toxicity of politics in Ghana.
“Most African leaders come to fill their pockets and their bellies. It creates an airwave of mistrust and suspicion. Politicians have to clean that”, he said.
