Hustle before Going into Music, Says Music Executive
In a recent interview with Mr. Black on Kumasefie, MC Burniton, a music executive who is an MC by day and a hype man by night, stressed the need for artistes to hustle and be financially prepared before fully diving into their music careers.
“It is only in Ghana that management can say that they are helping artistes but the reality is that, you must have capital as an artiste,” he said.
According to MC Burniton, music is a business, and artistes should approach it with a mindset focused on generating income.
He emphasised the importance of establishing connections and leveraging affiliations to promote one’s music.
“To succeed in the industry, aspiring artistes, particularly newcomers, must surround themselves with individuals who can assist them in their journey”.
He highlighted that even new artistes have various opportunities to monetize their craft, but it requires a well-thought-out strategy and collaboration with distribution service providers.
Additionally, he encouraged artistes to make use of social media platforms, as some artistes receive payment simply for sharing pictures online.
“The moment your music is out, you must make money,” MC Burniton asserted, emphasising the need for artistes to generate income from their musical endeavours.
