In a statement dated August 17, the Ministry said, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has observed with grave concerns some complaints by applicants about extortions and mistreatment meted out to them at some Passport Application Centers (PACs). In an effort to deal with the menace, the Ministry is urging applicants who suffer any mistreatment or corruption to report such incidents”.

The Ministry also advised applicants to avoid interacting with staff members who lack proper identification, such as name tags.

“Officers who have served more than a year at the PACs will be replaced with immediate effect and the Ministry policy of the yearly rotation will be enforced to the letter.”

“The public is advised to note that applications submitted to the regular PACs  do not come at an extra cost,” it added
