Helicopter Crash: Defence And Interior Committee Applauds Multi-agency Probe

The Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament has welcomed the swift initiation of a multi-agency investigation into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.

It has committed to thoroughly reviewing the findings once available and providing recommendations to strengthen aviation safety, operational protocols, and crisis response across the security sector.

“The Committee applauds the swift initiation of a multi-agency investigation led by the Ghana Armed Forces to determine the cause of this incident,” it said in a press statement.

The Committee intends to honor the memories of the deceased by redoubling efforts to retool the GAF to improve its operational efficiency.

Mourning them, it said the loss strikes at the heart of the nation’s military leadership.

“We stand in solidarity with the bereaved families, the Government, Parliament of Ghana, the Ghana Armed Forces and the people of Ghana during this solemn time.”

The crash on August 6, 2025, in the Adansi-Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region claimed the lives of Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.

It also claimed the lives of Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General, NADMO, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manden Twum-Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
