‘Hearts of Oak and Kotoko Could Lose Relevance in Coming Decades’ – Eric Alagidede

Football administrator Eric Alagidede has warned that Ghana’s two biggest clubs risk fading away in the future just as it has happened to some traditional clubs in the country.

He believes the two giants must step up their structures and improve their operations to avoid declining like other traditional clubs and even pointed to the struggles some of them are facing at the moment.

“If we are not careful, clubs like Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko may not be relevant in the next 20 to 30 years.”

“BA United is playing in Division Two, Bofoakwa Tano in Division Two, Hasaacas in Division Two,” he noted.

Despite these concerns, both clubs are still competitive this season. Hearts of Oak currently sits 3rd on the table with 40 points, while Asante Kotoko follows in 4th place with 38 points.

He concluded that the disappearance of several traditional sides should serve as a strong warning, and without improvement, the same could happen to the biggest clubs in the years ahead.
