Health Alert: Ghana Health Service Steps Up Covid Vaccination Exercise
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) in its quest to eliminate the Covid-19 pandemic has intensified its vaccination with a five-day mop-up exercise.
According to the service, the exercise which began on Wednesday 9th November 2022 across the country is to ensure maximum protection of the citizenry against the deadly virus.
With a drastic decline in cases and Covid related deaths, it appears vaccination against the pandemic and the general reaction has declined with reports of expired vaccines being recorded in some health centres across the country.
A Public Health Nurse at the Manhyia District Hospital in the Ashanti Region, Martha Danso has been speaking to Opemsuo News on the exercise. She has pleaded for the cooperation and full participation of the general public.
She has debunked rumours and myths surrounding the vaccines which have caused fear and panic in a section of the general public for which reason they are hesitant to vaccinate.
She says there is not any serious risk attached to the vaccines except that some people may have some minor reactions which she says are being taken care of by the health personnel in case of any.
Martha Danso urged all manner of persons aged 15 and above, pregnant women among others including those who have taken both first and second jabs to avail themselves for the ongoing exercise.
