Gyimakyi Dikrobaapanin Isn’t a Royal- Asantehene Rules

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has ruled that the Obaapanin of Gyimakyi Dikro, Obaapanin Akosua Ampoma, is not a royal.

Her royalty was challenged by one Maame Ama Boaduwaa, who asserted that she is a self-acclaimed queen who was previously enstooled as the Plantain Queen by Yamfohemaa.

The plaintiff further argued that the Dikro stool doesn’t have a female stool.

The Obaapanin contested the claims, emphasising that she was related to Ama Boaduwaa and was the third to occupy the position from her lineage.

Referencing his personal findings, Otumfuo chronicled the lineage of the first occupants of the stool.

The lineage was traced to Ama Boaduwaa, and then it was found that the family of the Obaapanin was not part of the royal lineage.

“These cases are simple to deal with. All you need is the family tree. It is not complicated at all. You are not related to the stool.”

That notwithstanding, His Majesty pardoned her for the Great Oath.

Meanwhile, she was charged with serving the Palace with plantain.
