Govt Committed to Reconstructing La Hospital – Trade Minister
The Minister for Trade and Industry and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi Asokwa Constituency Hon. K. T. Hammond says government is committed to reconstructing La General Hospital immediately.
Addressing members of the parliamentary press corps, Hon. K. T. Hammond revealed that even though government has challenges accessing the loan approved by parliament to execute the project, finally there has been sanity in the new financing agreement put in place for the project to begin soon.
“As I’m talking to you now, the finance minister is making funds available to the contractor and they are already on the grounds to commerce work,” he said.
In 2021, government took a decision to demolish La General Hospital due to the poor state of the building and also lack of medical equipment. This made it difficult for patients and medical practitioners to access quality health care.
According to the Minister, the government made a decision to reconstruct the hospital into a modern status but the project halted due to financial difficulties.
“Very recently the president and his cabinet have taken a decision, a very clear decision that La General hospital will be constructed in its original design and it has been agreed by the president and his cabinet that design is going to be put out beautifully at the same place and as far as I’m concerned, the finance minister is committed to raise funds for the project,” Hon. Hammond stated.
The minister assured the indigenes that government will surely execute the project.
“Read my lips I know what I’m talking about because in this particular case I have been at the centre so take my words, the government is committed to making sure that La hospital is put up in its original design.”
