Government Deliberately Collapsing Our Business; Ejusu Pig Farmers
The Ejisu Cluster of Pig Farmers Association has accused the government of deliberately Collapsing their businesses following an attempt to forcefully eject them from their present location.
According to them, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. S.O Frimpong is bent on taking over the piece of land and redeveloping it for the intended Ejisu Market Project. Reports indicate the farmers have been issued with a one-week ultimatum to vacate the land saying it belongs to the Ejisu Paramount Chief.
Addressing a press conference at Ejisu, the spokesperson for the association, Mr. George Agyei expressed disappointment in the MCE for spearheading the attempt to illegally get them out of their present location without offering them an alternative.
He rejected claims by the MCE that the Assembly gave them a one-week ultimatum saying no notice has been served on them to that effect. He also rejected the claim that the piece of land belongs to the Ejisuhene. According to them, the land belongs to the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCO).
Mr. George Agyei stated that after their members lost about 70% of their pigs to the swine flu disease last year, farmers are yet to receive their compensation as promised by the government, only to wake up to hear they are being forcefully evicted. He pleaded with the government to come to their aid.
