Gold Dealer’s Driver and Bodyguard Arrested In Foiled ₵1.3M Gold Robbery

The driver and bodyguard of a gold dealer are among three suspects identified by the police in a foiled gold robbery incident in Accra.
Adams Zibo, Massawud Yussif and Kenneth Khartey allegedly planned to rob a gold consignment valued at over Ghc1.3 million during a scheduled gold delivery on June 26, 2025.
A tipoff led the Special Support Unit (SSU) of the Ghana Police Service at the National Headquarters to commence a counter operation on June 25 2025.
Kenneth was the first to be arrested. He was nabbed near Akuapem–Mamfe trailing a Land Cruiser transporting the gold consignment with a motorbike while the gold, weighing approximately 1.2 kilograms, was also secured.
Later in the day, Adams and Massawud were arrested at East Legon in an unregistered blue Hyundai vehicle.
Per police investigations, the two suspects had procured firearms, motorbikes and a getaway vehicle for the planned robbery, a police statement said.
“All three suspects are in custody, assisting the investigation and will be put before the court.”
