GNPC Grants Fuel Attendant Scholarship To KNUST

Benjamin Darko, a graduate of the Presbyterian Senior Secondary School (PRESEC), Legon, will finally pursue his dream of studying a Medical-Science-related course after securing a scholarship from the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation.

He will be studying at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) after the GNPC Foundation booked him for enrollment on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.

Announcing the news, the GNPC posted pictures featuring Benjamin, the Vice Chancellor of the KNUST, Prof Rita Akosuah Dickson and the Executive Director of the GNPC Foundation, Dr Dominic Eduah.

“At GNPC Foundation, we understand the challenges of many parents and students seeking advancements in education amidst tight financial constraints and we are happy to play the role of facilitating the realization of many dreams through our scholarships and other educational intervention programmes,” Dr. Eduah is quoted to have said.

The story of Benjamin who had been working at a Goil filling station in Kumasi attracted public attention after a report by GHOne TV.

He was reported to have secured 5A’s and 3Bs in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), however, was restrained from further pursuing his academic dreams due to financial constraints.

The 21-year-old is reported to have taken up menial jobs to fund his education.
